Welcome!

My mother was a student of life and loved passing what she learned along to friends and family.  Periodically she sent tidibits she had collected along with a handwritten note.  Her missives always started  - 'Enclosed is an item of interest'.  What followed might be a clipping from the hometown paper, a recipe for something "you should try", an article about the best viewing location for the upcoming meteor shower, or bits about a hundred other topics.  Whatever was in the envelope, you knew it had been selected and sent especially for you.   

My wish is for this blog to serve a similar purpose - a place to share thoughts and information that may be of interest to you.
